10 Ways you can Stand Up For Education

  1. Stay informed. Sign up for regular Stand Up For Education updates by sending a message to sporte@mea-mft.org. Say, “sign me up for SUFE updates.” Include your name, address, phone number, and email. Also, watch this web site for updates.

  2. Talk to your family, friends, and neighbors (in town and around the state) about issues facing public schools and your support for education. Remember, the majority of Montanans support better state funding for education!

  3. Sign up for a free Stand Up For Education video. Show it to the Chamber of Commerce, at parent meetings, etc. E-mail sporte@mea-mft.org to request a video.

  4. Ask legislative and gubernatorial candidates the tough questions on education funding issues. Remember, all candidates SAY they support education. But the majority of legislatures fail to VOTE for education funding.

  5. Be aware of local school mill levy elections.

  6. Check the MEA-MFT web site for voting records on candidates for the legislature ( www.mea-mft.org/03voterecord.htm )

  7. Get involved in your local schools. Help with a field trip, in a classroom, with a special project. Read to kids.

  8. Find pro-public education candidates and help them get elected. Write a check, put up a yard sign, call your friends.

  9. Write a letter to the editor supporting more state funding for education. Use information from this Stand Up For Education web site. Keep your letter brief, positive, and factual.

  10. Vote! Make sure your family, friends, and co-workers vote too.

Your help will a difference! Thank you for standing up for education!
